Sunflowers

Isn't it amazing how flowers can cheer you up?

Flowers are so beautiful. Today I was walking over the market to buy vegetables, but I came along the flower stand and just to had to buy them...

Flowers remind me of how great God is- if he already takes care of the flowers, every detail- so perfect!
Will He not take even better care of us?!

Even though sometimes it doesn't go like we want it to go- good to be reminded of God's greatness by some beautiful flowers!

Martha and Joas once again:)

I'm spending couple of days in Tholen again and while my mom was Mariska's hairdresser, I had to keep the kids amused... I had my camera with me, so they played- I took pictures:)

Poor Martha- her brother is already stronger than she is and is just bossing her

Curious to what is happening in the kitchen...

A soul opening out to nature

There is so much beauty around us, that most of the time we don't even notice!

If you look carefully at flowers, it is amazing- so many details, so beautifully shaped

and the abundance in colours... each flower is a soul opening out to nature

not just in flowers, but also in other object around us:)

The Wiz

Last thursday I went to Utrecht with my friend Cora to see the musical The Wiz. As you probably understand this is about the Wizard of Oz- but this was the dutch version.

It was really cool, good songs, good music and cool stage:)

We had perfect places (even though we had the cheapest ones:) we sort of had our own little loge from where we had a perfect view on the stage. Great place to take pictures as well- what I did of course:) But someone came to me and told me that I had to delete all the picture I'd taken- not allowed to take pictures:(

Too bad you see the flash- but this is a billboard with pictures from the performance... To just get the idea:)

Good news!!

ok- this is just a random Jolanda picture because I don't like blogs without picture:)

Yesterday I got really good and exciting news! I got accepted at the University of Utrecht for an International & BilingualTeaching Master program. There are just 18 places per year available for this Master, so had to apply for it. A couple of weeks ago I had an interview for it- what went fairly well I thought. And that was true- because I got a letter that I would make a good student, but they still had more than 18 people... Exciting times! Because they were going to look what would make the best combination in the group- and decide on that. My subject will be Social Science- and I am the only student who wants to teach this- the others are English, Physics, Science and Biology. But it turned out well- I got accepted! I am really relieved now- because the uncertainty was really frustrating, I had no clue what I would do otherwise, really hard to find a job with just Anthropology...

The program takes one year. Every week two days of school and three intern days. I'll be educated to be an international/bilingual (english/dutch) teacher what means that I can teach Social Science in English at a Dutch highschool (English is becoming more and more the dominating language at schools here, even at highschools...) or teach at an international school, or teach at a local school abroad (in an English speaking country obviously). The program also includes a 4 month internship abroad, from January to April next year. The school decides where your intership is going to be, though. That can be from the North of Norway to South Africa to Wales to Hungary to PennState (US)- really different places as you see. I'll know in November where I will go. So busy and exciting times are going to come, but I am so thankful to know what I will be doing, and be able to plan ahead and make plans for the next year...

Playing with sunlight

I haven't much to do these day. Done with studying, but not having a job and not knowing what I will do after summer- pretty frustrating! But then there are still these moments that make you quiet and just enjoy. Tonight was such a moment- the sun came in through my window- creating beautiful spots in my room... tried to capture some...

Beautiful flowers Susanne got me. I already have them a week- but every morning there are new surprised and new beauties, this is a promissing bud.. about to burst open!

My Mexican fan

My dusty guitar- a thankful object for the sun to play with ...
